Box Twenty were appointed for the provision of MEP consultancy services associated with the proposed residential development for United Communities at 40 – 48 Midland Road in Bristol.

We have produced a RIBA Stage 3 design for tender, and we are now working for the appointed Contractor to update the design for a set Contractors Proposals.

The project consists of a development of 50 affordable homes plus 2 flexible commercial units located on the junction of Midland Road/ Midland Street/ Louisa Street in Old Market, Bristol. The total GIA of the scheme is 4442m2.

The scheme is all affordable housing at five storeys in height with external circulation walkways. There is a combined sewer which runs under the site which required a cantilevered foundation solution and as `build over agreement’.

The heating plant serving the building is proposed to link into the proposed Bristol City Council District Heating system.

Working with United Communities, RLB, Noma Architects, Kendal Kingscott and the rest of the design team, Box Twenty were appointed to develop the M&E design for the residential with shell-and-core for the commercial developments through RIBA workstages 1 to 3 for D&B Contractor tender appointed by the client.

Box Twenty have also been asked to develop our designs to Stage 4a under a novation to the Main Contractor to be provided to their M&E sub-contractor for final design and production of installation drawings.
