The provision of M&E consultancy services in support of listed building consent for planning for the proposed office refurbishment on the ground floor of the existing Bristol Museum & Art Galleries for use as a teaching & workspace.

The project is a refurbishment of the existing office / store area on the ground floor of the museum to provide a new modern office facility for use as teaching, office & workspace for one of the museums departments.

The current space has limited M&E installations & the large glazed roof lanterns are leaking and so is therefore not suitable for the proposed use of the space.

Funding is to be sought for the proposed works & a listed building consent application is to be submitted.

Box Twenty are involved to undertake initial surveys, provide outline sketches, plant selections & a written description of works to enable the architects to include the necessary details within the listed building consent application.

These design details will also enable the cost consultants to provide budget costs for the M&E installations to enable the funding application to be made.

Following a briefing meeting with the Client to understand the proposed use of the space, we put forward M&E solutions to enable the offices to be used as teaching & presentation spaces for students.

We proposed using & extending the existing radiator heating installations. We also proposed wall-mounted split cassette units which could provide cooling in the summer due to number of occupants & the glazed roof lights forming the office roof, thus having high heat gains.

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery was also proposed to provide efficient quantities of fresh air for the occupants & removing stale air whilst recovering up to 80% of the heat from the air.
