The provision of Building Services consultancy services associated with the boiler replacement & replacement of the heating pipework and emitter installations within Block C at Oakfield Academy in Frome.

Box Twenty were appointed by Sanderson Weatherall on behalf of Oakfield Academy to undertake the initial design input in sufficient detail to obtain costings to enable the school to make their CIF bid funding application.

The school were successful in securing this funding & therefore we were appointed to update our tender packages to enable appointment of the successful M&E Contractor through a competitive tender process.

We worked with the Contractor through final design & installation on site to deliver the heating system replacement on behalf of the school. This consisted of replacing the end of economical life boiler & large inefficient radiators, pipework systems & controls.

The works were fast-tracked through the summer holidays & were ready for occupation at the end of August. The heating systems are much more energy efficient & enable the school to have more controllability over temperatures & time zones.

The development includes;

• Strip-out of existing boiler, pumps, single-pipe heating systems and emitters throughout Block C;

• Replace boiler with new, including pumps, pipework & headers;

• Replace heating system with 2-pipe reverse return heating systems with new emitters;

• Incorporation of lockable TRV’s and LSV’s to all radiators and emitters;

• Modifications to pumps / valve arrangements to facilitate the works;

• Incorporation of internal space sensors linked to controls system.
